This vintage painted sideboard from Shanxi province would look great in a kitchen or bathroom with its icy blue tones. It has had the top layer of black paint removed to reveal the blue tones. 

These sideboards were originally used by nomadic people for the storage of clothes and bedding or grain. They were also used as altar cabinets for family ancestor worship.

These sideboards bear many similarities to Mongolian sideboards and are from the north where Shanxi borders Inner Mongolia. Originally top opening, it has been customised by converting the front panels to doors.
