Monkey Business Theatre written by Robert M. Laughlin and Sna Jtz'ibajom offers readers a unique perspective on the development of Indigenous theatre among the people of Chiapas, Mexico. Robert M. Laughlin is an anthropologist who has worked with Sna Jtz'ibajom, the Tzotzil-Tzeltal Maya writers' cooperative, since the group formed in 1983. He presents information about the cooperative as well as providing the English translation for 12 plays developed by the participants of Sna Jtz'ibajom. The plays represent traditional legends of the Mayan people of San Cristobal de las Casas, as well as political and social commentary on the situation of Indigenous Peoples of Mexico.
